Hard workers of every type, we have great news: the Ram 2500 is back and is more impressive than ever. This heavy-duty pickup has been the loyal companion of contractors, farmers, construction workers, and the like for many years. Ram has cleverly offered this truck in seven trims for the 2024 year, each one offering its own unique features, appealing to a very distinct driver. Below, we will go over some of the standard features of the full Ram 2500 lineup, and then dive into the highlights of each of the seven trims. If you’re looking for a Ram 2500 for sale near Somerset, make your next stop Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris and check out our great selection of this heavy-duty Ram favorite.

The Basics

Let’s start with some basics you’ll find across these trims. There are two engine options. The starting engine is a 6.4 L HEMI V8, kicking out 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Vehicles equipped with this engine can tow up to 17,730 pounds and have a payload of 4,000 lbs. Some upper trims, however, have the 6.7 L Cummins turbo-diesel engine standard or available. The super hefty engine takes the torque up to 850 lb-ft, and some vehicles equipped with this can tow up to 19,990 pounds.

There are three cab options and two box options. Availability varies between trims. The regular cab gets you just one front bench seat, offering seating for three passengers. The crew cab can be had with either bucket seats or a bench seat in the front, offering seating for five or six. The same goes for the mega cab, but the mega cab will be more spacious than the crew cab. As for box sizes, there is an 8-foot and a 6.4-foot box option.

The Tradesman

The Tradesman tells you what it is right there in its name. It is a basic, but sturdy workhorse of a truck. It doesn’t have many bells and whistles, but it will help you get your jobs done every day. Its work readiness is proven through its versatility. This is actually the only Ram 2500 trim available in a regular cab. It is also available in a crew cab and has the 8-ft and 6.4-ft box options. Furthermore, the Tradesman can be ordered in a 4×4 or 4×2 model. Between the various cab/configurations and drive options, the Tradesman is a highly customizable option. So, if you have different types of jobs calling for different tools, you can create the ideal cab/box configuration for your needs.

The Big Horn

If you want to make a splash wherever you go and your jobs take you to high-end places, you’ll like pulling up in the stylish Big Horn. It has chrome front and rear bumpers and a chrome grille surrounding it with a black insert. The 18-inch polished cast aluminum wheels add to the unique style. Remote keyless entry offers a luxurious and streamlined process of getting into your truck. The Bighorn is only available in a 4×4 option and only in the crew cab variety; however, you can order it with the 8-ft or 6.4-ft box. It’s a great option for contractors and business owners who often need to meet with clients away from the job site and want a slick-looking vehicle that’s equally rugged.

The Laramie

If you’re looking for comfort and a little more luxury, consider the Laramie. It is also a highly customizable option with 4×4 and 4×2 options. Plus, it is available in a crew or mega cab, so it is a passenger-focused model. However, both the 8-foot and 6.4-foot box options are available, so if you need to prioritize passengers and cargo, the trim will easily accommodate.

The comfort we spoke of comes in the form of leather-trimmed seats with suede inserts. You’ll also get a heated, power-adjustable front seat for the driver and front passenger, helping you and your co-pilot ease into the perfect positions for long drives and keep you warm on cold days. Lifting heavy loads gets a little bit easier with a tailgate with a remote release. ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assists will come in handy when traveling in the city and getting into difficult parking spots. If you do a decent amount of commuting, you’ll be happy behind the wheel of the Laramie.

The Rebel

Off-road enthusiasts, the Rebel is for you. It is only available in a 4×4 configuration speaking to its adventurous nature. It’s made for muddy trails and unpredictable environments. Accordingly, it is only available with a 6.4 box. The Rebel’s box is just right for transporting some dirt bikes or adventure gear to your outdoor destinations. So, if you’re looking for the perfect truck for days spent on the trails, this is the model.

This model is available with a serious winch for times someone needs to pull you out of a jam. Adding to its off-road readiness is a rear limited slip differential with E-Locker, which allows you to send more torque to whichever wheel has good traction and enables you to lock both rear wheels so they turn at the same time, reducing the risk of spinning out.

The Power Wagon

Another great adventurous vehicle that is not quite as off-road-ready as the Rebel is the Power Wagon. The Power Wagon is also only available in 4×4 models. It has an electronic disconnecting sway bar, offering more flexibility on bumpy roads, and better bump absorption. It also has powder-coated front and rear bumpers to combat small scratches and damage when you leave paved environments. The addition of Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires makes this model ready to explore muddy trails.
