Established in 1900 as the Dodge Brothers Company, the entity began as one of the chief suppliers of parts to other brands such as Ford. Dodge played a pivotal role in the First World War, supplying a number of trucks to aid in the American war effort, and before then, had been part of the 1916 American border conflict with Mexico.

In 1928, Dodge was acquired by the Chrysler Corporation and found a new niche in the marketplace as a luxury-oriented brand. Following a second call to action to once again aid in the Allied war effort during the Second World War, Dodge once again found itself producing high-end sedans and eventually moved into the realm of the muscle car with the production of the Coronet, Challenger, and Charger.

Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Dodge would turn its attention to the production of consumer-oriented sedans such as the Stratus and Intrepid. Dodge would also make a name for itself in the truck world, thanks to their Ram series, which would eventually become its own separate brand in 2010.
