This year’s Ram 1500 is offered in eight distinctive trims. In addition to existing trims like the base model Tradesman and the popular Big Horn, new trims include the off-road-ready TRX and a Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition celebrating a decade of Ram as an independent brand.

With a 702-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Hellcat engine, the TRX trim takes all the headlines this time around. New for 2021, this overpowered Ram 1500 includes not only a luxurious slate of features normally found on the Limited trim but also a full complement of rugged hardware necessary to get into some real off-road adventures. Starting at $70,225, the TRX is Ram’s answer to the Ford Raptor, blowing away the turbocharged V6 truck from the Blue Oval to claim the title of Ultimate Performance Truck.

The powerful off-road trim features 650-pound-feet of torque, an impressive 8,220 pounds of towing capacity, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires, Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shock absorbers, and 13 inches of suspension travel. The interior is packed with driver-focused tech, from the aforementioned HUD to a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo system and even paddle shifters – another first for a Ram product.

The 2021 Ram 1500 also features eight drive modes: five designed to tweak performance for various on-road conditions, and three focused solely on off-roading. By tweaking settings related to the Ram’s 4×4 system, transmission, throttle response, suspension, and power steering, drivers can customize their driving experience to handle anything the road decides to throw at them. On-road modes include Auto, Snow, Sport, Tow, and Custom, while the off-road set has Mud/Sand, Rock, and Baja – a mode designed for tearing through sand dunes that sets the truck’s suspension to full dampening and reduces shift times by almost 70 percent.

The TRX is available in three packages, from the base level that’s made to get a little dirty to higher-end trims with bold red accents and a glittering array of dash-mounted tech. The truck features a race-inspired, flat-backed steering wheel, carbon fiber accents, and ample suede and leather throughout. A high-performance dual exhaust, wide grille, flared fenders, and flared box sides give the TRX a distinctly aggressive look to match what’s under the hood and announce its arrival on the luxury-performance end of the full-size segment.

With the Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition, Ram aims to bring a little bit of the prairie to your everyday driving. The Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary Edition features a multifunction tailgate with 60/40 split doors, handsome 10th Anniversary graphics with a metal badge on the center console, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and a full-size spare, as well as soft, luxurious mountain brown leather throughout the interior.
