Hearing terms like Trail Rated®, 4×4, or off-road capability might seem like sales jargon coming from a dealership, but trust us when we say that a properly-equipped Jeep Wrangler is as capable of navigating extreme terrain as it is navigating Paris streets. Looking for a place to prove it? These four off-roading Kentucky parks are the best the state has to offer, according to our staff. We know well, because many of our vehicles have been driven off the lot and tested in these spots, getting glowing reviews from our customers! Check them out below.
Head a couple of hours south to Knott County, and you’ll be treated to some of the most interesting trails Kentucky has to offer at Mine Made Paradise Adventure Park. Located on 43,000 acres of reclaimed coal land, this park features plenty of water crossings, miles and miles of trails, and both easy and technical paths for drivers of all levels. Bring your camping gear, and take advantage of all the outdoor splendor the park has to offer!
With over 100 miles of trails carved out for off-road vehicles and drivers of all levels, Turkey Bay OHV Area has been called one of the most beautiful trail systems in the country by all-terrain riders the world over. Located in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, with access to over 170,000 acres of undeveloped land and 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline, reaching true wilderness equates to less than a 4-hour drive from Lexington.
Off-road enthusiasts flock to this place less than two hours east of Lexington. After all, “off-road” is in its name! A privately-owned, 7,000-acre tract of land is home to Rush Off-Road trails, where families and experts alike go to train and test their skill traversing hills, climbing rocks, and watching the pros in events like UTV Racing’s R2R4 Survival Series. Lodging is even available on-site if you find yourself with a foot on the gas at sunset.
Are you the kind of driver who’d live behind the wheel full-time given the chance? Wildcat Adventures Off-Road Park is probably your place to visit then, where 24/7 riding is allowed, and camping is plentiful. With a general store and food trailer sitting at the foot of its many miles of trails, stopping for a quick bite before heading back up the hill isn’t a problem.
The Jeep Wrangler is more than just a machine that brings you along paved roads on trips to Kentucky Lake. See what it can do when its wheels hit the dirt! Contact us or stop by our Lexington-area showroom to check out Wrangler alongside the new RAM 2500 for sale, and let’s talk about how often to get your oil changed, and all the ways you can travel farther with an SUV made for the hills. And don’t forget about our list of the best Paris horse farms!
