Used Jeep Gladiator Sport For Sale In Lexington, Near Louisville

Known for its adventure-ready vehicles, Jeep returned to its origins in 2019 by reintroducing the rugged and powerful Gladiator truck. Loyal Jeep enthusiasts, including the team at Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, were eager to drive the Gladiator, marketed as “the most capable Jeep truck ever.” That reputation remains true today, as drivers enjoy the benefits of owning a used Jeep Gladiator Sport.

But how did Jeep venture into the truck market? A few decades after Jeep, originally known as Willys, began manufacturing military vehicles for the Army during World War II, the automaker launched its first truck—the Gladiator—in 1962. Renamed the J-Series from 1971 until production ended in 1987, the Gladiator made history as the first four-wheel-drive truck to offer an optional automatic transmission. This innovation set the Gladiator apart from its competitors, securing its place on the road throughout its 25-year production run.

Located in Paris, our dealership is proud to serve customers across Lexington, Louisville, Winchester, and Cynthiana. If you’re looking for a used Jeep Gladiator in these areas, our extensive inventory and dedicated team are here to help you find the perfect vehicle.

After three decades, Jeep surprised everyone by reintroducing the Gladiator in 2019. Taking a cue from Jeep’s rich history and iconic design, the all-new model built on the Jeep legacy by offering legendary four-wheel drive capability and the most advanced features available. These features include the innovative Command-Trac and Rock-Trac four-wheel drive systems, 33-in off-road tires, up to 30 inches of water fording capability, an optimized suspension, improved fuel-efficiency, and over 80 advanced safety and security features. To say the Gladiator upped the ante of Jeep’s reputation for building adventure-ready and ruggedly capable vehicles is an understatement!

Gladiator Sport

Jeep gave drivers plenty of choices with the re-released 2020 Gladiator lineup from the Sport and Sport S to the Overland, North Edition, Rubicon, and Mojave. Jeep also gave drivers a choice between two fuel-efficient powertrains. Those who prefer gas-powered engines could opt for the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with Engine Stop-Start and an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission that, as found on the Sport, delivered 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Drivers who prefer the power of diesel could outfit the Gladiator with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with Engine Stop-Start and the 8-speed automatic transmission.

Aside from the available powertrains, the 2020 Gladiator Sport was designed as a bare-bones model to give drivers a clean slate for customization. It came standard with cloth seats and a 60/40 folding rear seat that offered seating for five passengers. The interior amenities included an 8-speaker sound system, a rear backup camera, and a 5-in Uconnect touchscreen display. From there, drivers could opt to add various features depending on their needs or wants like MOPAR rear splash guards, a three-piece hard-top or a solid sunbonnet top, a spray-in bed liner, a roll-up tonneau cover, and so much more.

Gladiator Sport vs Gladiator Sport S

By now, you’re probably wondering, “What’s the difference between the Gladiator Sport and the Gladiator Sport S?” Well, both 2020 Gladiator models come equipped with the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with Engine Stop-Start technology and a 6-speed manual transmission. Producing the same power, the models also deliver the same towing capacity of 4,000 lbs and an average fuel economy of 17 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

While the powertrains are the same, this is about as far as similarities go between the 2020 Gladiator Sport and the Gladiator Sport S. The Sport is the Gladiator’s base model and reflects as much with its lower pricing and limited features. The Sport S, however, takes the base model up a level with a higher price point that comes with more comfort, connectivity, customization, and safety features.

The Gladiator Sport S builds on the Sport’s standard features from the front to the rear bumper. Exchanging the Sport’s 17-in black steel styled wheels with updated 17-in tech silver aluminum wheels, the Sport S also boasts upgraded automatic headlamps with the option to upgrade to LED taillamps. The interior also gets a few upgrades that include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and power front windows with 1-touch down technology. Even the audio system can be upgraded from the Sport’s 8-speaker system to the Alpine Premium Audio System that’s protected by the Sport S’s built-in security system.

The Sport S also gives drivers more options for customization with a variety of upgrades that aren’t available on the Sport. For example, the Sport S offers options like power-heated mirrors, automatic high-beam headlamps, a console bin task-light, LED taillamps, and automatic headlamps, none of which are available on the Sport. Sport S drivers have the option to have the front bumper painted and add body-color fender flares to improve the truck’s exterior appearance. The Sport S also offers side steps, a power tailgate lock, heated front seats, and an available upgrade to an 8.4-in touchscreen display that pales in comparison to the Sport’s 5-in display.

The 2020 Sport S also adds a host of connectivity, safety, and technology features. Unlike the Sport, the Sport S is equipped with a subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link as well as Emergency and Assistance Call technology and an HD radio. The safety features on the Sport S include a 110-MPH Vehicle Max Speed Calibration as well as available upgrades like Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, ParkSense Rear Park Assist System, and Blind-Spot and Cross-Path Detection. These safety features are not available on the S, which only offers an available Selec-Speed Control, daytime running lamps, and Trailer Hitch Zoom.

These key differences between the 2020 Sport and the Sport S may not seem like much, but they make a world of difference once you get behind the wheel of a new or used Gladiator. The Gladiator Sport is a no-frills option that puts drivers behind the wheel of Jeep’s legendary truck at an affordable price, with options to customize the truck later. For drivers wanting more features from technology to safety as well as additional upgrades, the Gladiator Sport S is worth the few extra pennies!
