Choosing the right SUV is all about figuring out what you need and then finding the model that checks all of your boxes. The 2020 Jeep Renegade, for example, is the perfect option if you are looking for a compact SUV that is incredibly fun to drive, with sporty performance and great functionality. If you are interested in going off-road, then this is an excellent choice that has earned Jeep’s Trail Rated badge. With different engine options and plenty of other features to choose from, you can get a Renegade with the right level of performance and the technology that you need.
There are four different standard trim levels available for the 2020 Jeep Renegade, which gives you a lot of freedom to get the right combination of options and features. Two different engines are available across them, including a powerful 1.3L I-4 Turbo engine that makes the Renegade incredibly fun to drive. With 4x4 and an off-road-ready Trailhawk trim available, the Renegade is a fantastic option if you are looking to leave the paved road behind. That being said, this is still a terrific choice for city driving, with great features like a 9-speaker premium sound system and a dual-pane panoramic power sunroof available.
The 2020 Jeep Renegade is also an incredibly safe choice for a compact SUV, thanks to excellent standard and available safety features. These include numerous airbags, all-speed traction control, and advanced brake assist. Additional safety features include a forward collision warning with active braking, a lane departure warning, and park assist systems available. There are two different engines for you to choose from with the 2020 Jeep Renegade, though they both offer an excellent driving experience. Keep in mind there are some restrictions here based on which trim you choose, which is to be expected. The Sport and Latitude trims come with one engine standard, but the more powerful engine is still available on them.
The standard engine for the Renegade is a 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine that offers up to 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. If you choose the Trailhawk or the Limited trim, then you get a 1.3L MultiAir2 Turbo I-4 engine, which delivers up to 177 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. You can see that is slightly less horsepower than the standard engine, but it is turbocharged and provides much more torque. No matter which engine you choose, however, it comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and responsive ride.
The 2020 Jeep Renegade comes with 4x2 standard on most models, though 4x4 is available on every trim level. This means you do not have to miss out on four-wheel drive simply because you do not need some of the features of a higher trim. 4x4 on the Renegade includes a Selec-Terrain traction management system that helps keep you in control no matter how rough the road or trail might get.
Although there are plenty of other manufacturers out there that offer compact SUVs, even some very nice ones, only the 2020 Jeep Renegade has the Jeep Trail Rated badge of honor. This means it has been through Jeep’s incredibly demanding testing and proven that it can handle a wide range of off-road conditions. That makes the Renegade a terrific option if you are interested in leaving paved roads behind and hitting the trail.
In particular, the Trailhawk trim is your best choice if you are interested in going-off road, as it comes with a number of amazing off-road features. For example, the Trailhawk comes with 4x4 standard, including a low-range crawl mode. It also has the Selec-Terrain traction management system, available on other trims, but it includes a rock mode for low-speed crawling on rocky terrain. The Trailhawk has hill descent control standard, to help with off-roading, as well as an off-road suspension to keep you comfortable and better protect the underside of your vehicle.
You also get an increased ride height with the Trailhawk, along with skid plates that protect the fuel tank, transmission, transfer case, and suspension. While most Jeep Renegade models with 4x4 have 12 inches of water fording capability, due to its superior suspension and increased ride height, the Trailhawk gives you 19 inches of water fording. It also has more than 8 inches of ground clearance, along with a 30-degree approach angle, 25-degree breakover angle, and 34-degree departure angle. All of this comes together to make the Renegade an amazing option for a compact off-road SUV.
The interior features you get in the 2020 Jeep Renegade will depend largely on which trim level you choose, with certain options standard or available at different trims. For example, the standard Sport trim includes air conditioning, a 3-inch black and white driver information display, and a manual 6-way driver’s seat with 4-way front passenger seat. It has a standard interior with a urethane shift knob, 6-speaker audio system, 5-inch infotainment display, and a urethane steering wheel with audio and cruise controls.
If you choose the Limited trim of the Renegade, however, then you get air conditioning with dual-zone automatic temperature control, a 7-inch full-color driver information display, and ambient LED interior lighting. The Limited also features a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and heated front seats. You get a power 8-way driver’s seat with power 4-way lumbar adjust in the Limited trim, along with a 7-inch infotainment display with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Available features for the Renegade include some impressive luxury options such as a Kenwood premium 9-speaker audio system with a subwoofer. There is an available dual-pane panoramic power sunroof, which offers an incredible view of the sky for your passengers in both the front and rear of the 2020 Jeep Renegade. You can also choose an 8-inch infotainment display with GPS navigation and HD radio, along with available Mopar premium carpeting.
No matter what else you are interested in when looking at a vehicle, safety should always be important to you. It does not matter if you want the 2020 Jeep Renegade for driving around town or for hitting the trail, nothing is as important as your vehicle’s ability to help keep you safe. Fortunately, the Renegade is a fantastic option with safety in mind, thanks to a number of excellent standard and available safety features.
The standard Sport trim of the Renegade includes electronic stability control with electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist, and trailer sway control for towing. It also comes with push-button start, a premium tire pressure monitoring display with individual tire readouts, and advanced brake assist. Every model of the Jeep Renegade includes a comprehensive airbag system with seven airbags, including advanced multistage driver and front passenger, supplemental front and rear side-curtain, and supplemental front-seat-mounted side airbags to help keep you and your loved ones safe.
Available safety features take all of this even further, with blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection systems available. You can also get auto high-beam headlamps, along with a full-speed forward collision warning and active braking. Adaptive cruise control is available, as is a LaneSense lane departure warning with a lane-keep assist system, and parallel and perpendicular park and “unpark” assist systems. Best of all, these great safety features are available on every trim of the Jeep Renegade, so no matter what else you are looking for, you know you can get a safe and reliable compact SUV.
