There are some old favorites back for another spin around the block, yet another improvement on an already record-setting truck, and a minivan out to prove that the class still deserves its spot in the market.

2022 Wagoneer

There’s been a trend with resurrecting popular models from the past as of late, and this is one we’re excited to see back on the sales floor. The Jeep Wagoneer was first introduced in 1963 and essentially introduced the world to the concept of the SUV by throwing a station wagon-like body onto the frame of a 4x4 Jeep. The model saw a luxury upgrade in the early ’80s with the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, an even more luxurious version. Now, the Wagoneer is here to stand on its own in the market, with the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer dropping the Jeep name and pushing forward as a new standard in luxury performance. Aimed at the large family SUV sector, the Wagoneer is the challenge to other three-row highway behemoths such as the Chevy Suburban and Nissan Armada. With a V-8 engine and up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, it certainly has the brawn to put up a good fight and has a few tricks up its sleeve to boot. Every Wagoneer is equipped with not only a 5.7-liter V-8 with 392 hp but has a 48-volt hybrid system as well. This hybrid powertrain is especially helpful given the sheer amount of fuel needed to move this 6,000-pound SUV down the road and ups the ante with a cylinder deactivation system that conserves gas even further. Optional four-wheel drive and a 3.6-inch adjustable air suspension give the Wagoneer the tools for some off-road fun, along with a driver-mode selector system that provides a range of preset tweaks for tackling sand, mud, snow, and rock. Though the Grand Wagoneer ups the ante even further, the luxury credentials are still on full display with the Wagoneer. The three-row SUV can be configured to seat up to eight passengers, and leather upholstery, ambient interior lights, three-zone automatic climate control, and 12-way power-adjustable seats are all offered standard. The Wagoneer is available in six trim levels, giving drivers ample opportunity to customize the SUV to their liking. The upper-end trims boast an impressive suite of in-car technology, especially when it comes to display screens. On the Series II trim and above, the front passenger gets their own infotainment display, as well as an unprecedented dual-screen rear entertainment system. Add a head-up display, a self-parking system, and 360-degree exterior cameras, and you’ve got a cutting-edge tech package that shows the brand has done its research on the competition. 2022 Ram 1500

The truck that redefined the class is back at it again. As one of the first-size pickups to truly embrace some of the higher-end features found on luxury SUVs, the Ram 1500 is out to prove that power and comfort aren’t mutually exclusive. Notable tech features include an available head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and a bevy of creature features for the off-road set, like an app within the truck’s infotainment system which allows drivers to monitor ride height, pitch-and-roll, and a number of other relevant metrics. Unlike many trucks in its class, luxury and infotainment features are not an afterthought on the Ram 1500. The class-leading pickup includes the now-ubiquitous Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but adds a mobile hotspot and two impressively sized displays to the mix as well. At 8.4- and a staggering 12-inches, the Ram 1500’s touchscreen is easier to navigate than many competing systems. These infotainment displays also include a feature that’s quickly emerged as an important deciding factor for many shoppers: real dials and buttons. While the futuristic allure of a smooth, seamless display is understandable, many drivers have expressed a desire for the inclusion of more traditional controls as well. Ever-responsive to the changing tastes of today’s market, Ram is ahead of the curve on this one, offering drivers the option between the cutting-edge and the tried-and-true methods of control. The Ram 1500 is offered in myriad trim levels, with nine trim options to choose from. Drivers can choose between a V-6 or V-8 setup, and all engines - save the 5.7-liter Hemi - get a boost from a 48-volt hybrid system. The Ram 1500 has always been offered in a wide range of trim levels, and 2022 is no different. This year’s options include an off-road-ready BackCountry Edition, luxury-packed 10th Anniversary Edition of the beloved Limited model, and a new G/T package available for the Laramie and Rebel trims. The G/T package is particularly interesting, featuring paddle shifters, cold-air intake, and a passive cold-end exhaust system, which increases efficiency while offering superior insulation and sound-dampening properties. Horsepower ranges between models, but in general, the Ram 1500 is not hurting for power with a towing capacity of 12,750. Combine that with a 5’7” or 6’4” bed, and you’ve got a truck that’s more than capable of hauling around the mountain of “best in class” awards it’s accrued over the years. 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

The crossover SUV is an undeniable force in today’s vehicle market, but with its sleek styling and ample cargo and passenger room, the Chrysler Pacifica is out to prove that a minivan can still hold its own in a rapidly changing industry. Recently recognized with Car and Driver’s Editor’s Choice Award for minivans, the Pacific performs its role so well that it’s managed to stave off the inevitable crossover-ization that’s befallen many of its contemporaries. Still, some changes to meet current tastes are necessary, and the 2021 model saw a modern makeover to its exterior which, combined with available all-wheel drive, might have you wondering what the difference between a minivan and a crossover is in the first place. Since this model saw an update for 2021, we don't expect to see much change in the upcoming 2022 model, so we are going to show you what to expect based on the 2021 model. Offered as both a 3.6-liter V-6 and plug-in hybrid, the 2021 Pacifica has a little zip for what most drivers traditionally think of as a solid family vehicle, boasting a zero-to-60 time of 7.3 seconds. The 2022 Pacifica offers the option for all-wheel drive, but the real icing on the powertrain cake comes down to efficiency. Despite its size and impressive cargo capacity, the Pacifica still gets an estimated 22 MPG combined in its V-6 setup and an impressive 84 MPGe in the hybrid configuration. Obviously, cargo space is the watchword in the minivan market, and the Pacifica has that covered. With roughly 140 cubic feet of cargo volume, there are storage spaces galore, and Chrysler’s Stow ‘n Go seats can be packed away flush in the floor on the V-6 model (the Hybrid’s battery makes floor storage too tricky). In one test, reviewers were able to store 53 suitcases in the minivan, which should satisfy even the longest-term vacationers out there. Since a minivan is nothing if not a way to shuttle children around, the Pacifica comes with an optional built-in vacuum cleaner for tidying up after the inevitable maelstrom. The 2021 Pacifica justifies its relatively high starting price of around $36,000 with a bevy of standard features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen, power liftgate, and adaptive cruise control. With all this in the 2021 model, we will be happy to see it again in 2022.

Electric vehicles increase in popularity every year. They offer significant advantages, such as low operating costs and less pollution. However, purchasing an electric vehicle isn’t a straightforward process. You must prepare your home for this new vehicle, as it requires an electric charge to operate. Therefore, you’ll need a charging station at home to avoid going to a public charging station every time your battery is low. Below, we’ll outline the steps to prepare your home for an electric vehicle. You'll be able to recognize a Level 1 charger as it looks like the other plugs in your home, with three prongs that go into the outlet. When you buy an electric vehicle, you'll likely get one of these chargers included with the purchase. A Level 2 charger is more complex but charges the vehicle faster. For example, a Level 1 charger provides around three to five miles of range per hour. So, it can take an entire day to fully charge an electric vehicle with a Level 1 charger. A Level 2 charger provides around 25 miles of range per hour, making it a much faster option. A Level 2 charger uses about 240 volts, double that of a Level 1 charger. It is ideal for people who plan on driving their vehicles frequently. From this, it would seem to make sense to opt for the Level 2 charger. However, a Level 2 charging station requires a more complex setup and a more significant energy requirement from your home. It could overload your home's electrical consumption capability if you don't properly prepare for it. Therefore, you'll want to carefully consider whether a Level 2 charger is the right option for you. Installing a Charging Station Installing a Level 1 charging station within your home is typically easy. All you need to do is plug the vehicle into an available outlet. Check your garage area for an accessible standard 120-volt outlet. Most homes can accommodate the energy requirements of a Level 1 charger, so you don't need to worry about overloading the system. Going with a Level 2 charging station requires a bit more planning. Here is what you need to do if you decide to go with this system: Determine Your Power Consumption Before purchasing a Level 2 charger, you want to ensure your home can handle the increased energy consumption. To do this, you can perform an energy audit on your home. An easy way to do this is by installing an electricity usage monitor, which will tell you how much electricity your major appliances use. Install the New Charger After getting the proper charger, you then need to install it properly. To do this, you'll need to hardwire your new charger into your home's power station. While it's possible to do this on your own, for most people, it's wiser to hire a professional. A professional is best suited to install the charging station safely, and you don't have to risk injury. Talk to a local electrician and ask for a cost estimate. Explore This Alternative Option If you want to get a Level 2 charger but don't want to go through the complicated installation process, there may be an alternative solution. Some garages come equipped with a 240-volt outlet, typically used for your home's dryer. If you have one of these outlets, you can purchase a 30-amp charger and plug it into this outlet.
