Maybe you’re searching for a Jeep Wrangler for sale near Louisville to upgrade your current ride, or maybe you’re already a proud Wrangler owner; either way, you undoubtedly understand the thrill of hitting I-65 when adventure calls to explore the rugged landscape around Bernheim Forest or the relaxation of taking a Sunday cruise to enjoy the scenic beauty. No matter your drive style, the Jeep Wrangler is at home in both the city and the country, making it the ultimate driving companion.

But what if you could take your journey to the next level? What if you could enhance your Wrangler’s performance, capabilities, or style to conquer even the roughest backcountry terrain or the most challenging city streets, for that matter?

One reason drivers love the Wrangler is its upgrades. Learn about available accessories, lifts, tires, tech, and beyond to take your Wrangler to all new levels of awesomeness. Whether you’re hoping to enhance your Wrangler’s off-road capabilities with different tires or simply want to add a few personal touches, we have you covered. In the Wrangler, it’s fun and easy to upgrade your driving experience and explore the roads less traveled in and around Louisville.

Lifts And Leveling Kits

Interested in elevating your Wrangler’s off-road capabilities? Check out the available lifts and leveling kits to help unleash your ride’s full potential. Ensuring your Jeep Wrangler has the necessary ground clearance is essential if you’re an off-roader who feels the rougher the terrain, the better. An increased lift means your Jeep can go farther into the backwoods without worrying about potentially damaging obstacles.

So what is available? There’s plenty to take your Wrangler to a new level. We can get lift kits ranging from one inch to five-plus inches, depending on your lifestyle. You can also choose between two different types of lift kits: a body lift or a suspension lift. What about a leveling kit? Most leveling kits are typically no more than one to two inches and does exactly what it says, evens out your Wrangler. A leveling kit may be needed if you’re adding other gear to your Wrangler, like a winch.

Installing these kits means drivers can have more flexibility if they are looking to add larger tires or for drivers looking to add a personal touch aesthetic-wise to their model. While adding lift or leveling kits to your Wrangler can be a quick and often inexpensive upgrade, keep things in mind, like what you want from your Wrangler. If you have a two or four-door model, ensure you get a vehicle with the right balance of performance, looks, and comfort to match your daily drive.

Accessories To Enhance Style And Function

Enhancing your Wrangler with parts to upgrade your ride can be a quick and easy way to match your Jeep with your lifestyle without breaking the bank. So, what should you look out for? Increase the interior storage and stay organized by adding storage features. Something as simple as adding a console organizer can help you keep essentials on hand like phones or first aid kits. It can help you keep your gear in place. If you’ve got lots to keep track of, having a spot for everything is a simple way to streamline your drive and keep everything you need accessible.

Adding a dash phone mount keeps your devices secure and on hand even when you’re traversing rocky and uneven ground. If your phone is safely mounted, it means you can stay connected and get in touch when you need to, no matter where you roam. Put on seat covers to enhance the comfort and durability of your Wrangler. You can get covers that are both water and tear-resistant to protect your original seating while elevating the interior style of the cabin. Choosing a seat cover with added padding keeps things supportive and comfortable.

And on the outside consider adding on front and back bumpers. This can not only enhance your Wrangler’s appearance but also help protect it from damage when the road gets rough. There are front bumpers designed for rock crawling and heavy off-roading. You can also find options that can be easily attached or swapped out to quickly alter your Jeep’s appearance to meet your driving needs.

You definitely can’t go past a roof rack, either. A roof rack can enhance your Wrangler’s cargo abilities so you can bring along or pick up any extras. With drill and non-drill clip designs, you can pick up a roof rack that fits your budget.

What if you’ve got a soft top? Can you add a roof rack? You bet! You can get crossbars and a rear ladder for easy access. As accessories can vary from make to make and year to year, always keep your specific Wrangler model in mind to ensure the perfect fit when adding any accessory or extra to your ride.

Choosing The Right Tires For For Louisville’s Terrain

The area in and around Louisville consists mainly of highways and paved roads, so while it’s smooth, it can get slippery during colder months or storms. It can also get a bit bumpy here or there in places like I-64 East or Blankenbaker Parkway with potholes or cracks. So, you naturally want a tire that has no problem handling urban driving. But if you live just outside of the city in a more rural town like nearby Campbellsville or Villa Hills, you might not only have to deal with commuting but also more side roads or back roads that are bumpy, rocky, or muddy at different points throughout the year. And if you’re an adventure-seeking road-tripping driver traveling west to the rugged Appalachian Mountains or heading along the soft terrain around the Ohio River, you need tires that can tackle whatever might come up, be it rocky, muddy, or somewhere in between.

This leads us to the question: what tires work well for your Wrangler when you live in Louisville? First, let’s look at your typical daily driving. You want a versatile tire that can handle the road and the weather all year long. If you don’t have to worry about heading off-road or tackling trails and you’re mainly concerned with highway and urban driving, you don’t need the huge treads because that just means more noise. Opting for tires like Bridgestone Dueler or Michelin is a smart move for a long-lasting, versatile tire. BFGoodrich also has a noteworthy all-terrain KO2 tire that is ideal for urban driving but offers enough grit to hit up camp trails or offer comfortable dirt road driving.

For rougher roads or off-road terrain, you’ll need something with more of a bite than your typical tire. BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain features treads to give you more of a grip over challenging terrains. Ironman All Country Mud tires can be had in 33-37 inches and offer the aggressive traction you’ll need when you find yourself deep in the backcountry.

Tech Upgrades To Navigate With Ease

One last way to upgrade your Wrangler is with tech add-ons. This can be something as useful as changing out your factory halogen headlights with crisp LEDs for increased output or adding on an advanced navigation GPS. When it comes to lighting, it is easy to keep things classic with round headlamp updates or put a modern spin on things with an LED light bar or light pods. Adding extra lighting accessories can add to the function of your Wrangler. Spots and flood beams help you check out the terrain ahead or set up camp after dark.

The Wrangler Was Made For Adventure

There’s no doubt that the Jeep Wrangler is an SUV that’s made for adventure. But the best part is its flexible nature, which means whether you’re a city driver, a suburban commuter, or you have an off-roading wild side, the Wrangler loves it all. And it’s easy to customize, accessorize, and make the Wrangler your own without hurting your wallet.

The Wrangler is a great choice for Louisville drivers thanks to its precise steering and small nature, which helps it tackle urban traffic. But when you want to get away to enjoy the serenity of the Ohio River Valley, no problem; load up the Wrangler and enjoy the journey. Whether you’re looking to upgrade with a lift kit and new mud tires, or you want to streamline your storage and add a little extra flexibility with seat covers and all-weather rubber mats, the Wrangler was designed to suit a diverse number of lifestyles, making it the ideal fit for the practical driver that is wild at heart.

A blue 2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn is shown driving to a Ram dealer near Louisville.

There’s nothing quite like a Ram truck. There is certainly no shortage of trucks on the market, and each has a unique selling point. Still, only Ram combines the prowess and capability that the working world looks for with the refinement and sophistication that caters to style and aesthetics. The Ram 1500, the brand’s flagship product, comes in various trims that can be utilized for multiple applications. Here at Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris, we think the Big Horn trim is ideally suited for the people of Louisville.

Available in two different cab configurations and with either 2WD or 4WD, the Big Horn can serve you in various ways, both in the working world and for a night on the town. If you’re looking for the correct type of truck that does it all, look no further than the Big Horn. Getting behind the wheel is as easy as visiting us at Dan Cummins CDJR of Paris, your local Ram dealer near Louisville, to unlock the full potential of what the Big Horn offers.

Power and Performance

Louisville residents might have different needs regarding the performance level of their pickup trucks. That being said, there’s no denying that anyone looking to take advantage of the Big Horn will be curious about what lies underneath the hood, where we’ll begin our examination.

The Big Horn has three different cab configurations and two available powertrains. Opting for a crew cab with a five-foot bed gives you access to a 3.6L V6 that pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. 305 hp is more than enough in the performance sector to offer prowess and assist with occupation obligations, especially with its 2,000 lbs payload capacity. Louisville drivers who want to make use of the Big Horn as their daily commuter will be pleased to know that despite the amount of power it delivers, it’s also reasonably efficient when it comes to fuel economy, with the RWD version achieving 20 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. This powertrain is also assigned to the quad cab with a 6.4-foot bed.

Earlier, we mentioned the Kentucky Derby, as it’s often associated with Louisville, and many drivers who reside in this area require a workhorse of a different kind to facilitate the challenging jobs. Choosing the crew cab with a 6.4-foot bed unlocks one of the most potent engines in its class, the 5.7L HEMI V8. The HEMI pushes out an incredible 395 hp, generating an equally impressive 410 lb-ft of torque. A towing capacity of 12,750 lbs can make any job relatively easy, and when equipped with optional 4WD, no terrain is too rugged to tame.

The speed limit, an incoming call and vehicle speed is shown on the interior windshield of a 2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn.

Interior and Tech

One of the aspects that makes Ram such an attractive brand to many is its continuing ability to ideally match style and substance and combine them on an equal footing with one another. Many have expectations of performance regarding the pickup truck, but only Ram can match this with sophistication and comfort. Depending on how advanced and immersive you want your tech-savviness to be, plenty of available upgrades can be added on.

Technology is accessed through a standard 8.4-inch infotainment screen compatible with Apple and Android. It is also equipped with Uconnect 5, a comprehensive software suite with most vehicles manufactured by the Stellanis corporation. Drivers can upgrade to a larger 12-inch screen that permits access to items like in-dash navigation. The Big Horn includes noise cancellation, ensuring that your favorite music stays inside the cabin and road noise stays outside where it belongs. Three different stereo systems can be picked, with a six-speaker setup being the standard offering., along with the option to upgrade to a nine-speaker configuration.

While the Big Horn’s cloth interior is standard, notable upgrades can be installed to ensure a comfortable trip, no matter where your particular travels may take you. Items like heated and ventilated seats and dual-zone climate control can make any drive around Kentucky enjoyable, even when the weather isn’t the most favorable. If you plan on utilizing the Big Horn on the job site, some options include front and rear power outlets and a spray-in bedliner for additional protection.

Safety and Driving Assistance

The technological innovations in the automotive industry regarding safety and driving assistance features are remarkable. One thing that Louisville residents, whether out for a night on the town or at the job site, all agree on is that safety is imperative. Depending on how much protection and oversight you want, the Big Horn can be outfitted with various features demonstrating Ram’s continuing commitment to its drivers.

Ram trucks have continually received favorable ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in collision testing. If you want to take protection to the next level, we recommend opting for the Level One Safety Group Package. This comprehensive package includes many features essential for maintaining safe travels on the road ahead, which include:

Advance Brake-Assist

A comprehensive design involving both the Forward Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control, Advance Brake Assist utilizes radar and camera technology to provide additional assistance in situations where a collision might occur.

Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus

Another essential for preserving reaction time is additional pressure, which is applied to the brakes in the event of a potential collision. An audible warning alerts the driver if a collision is imminent, and it is another exceptional use of radar and camera technology by the industry to promote safety.

Lane Keep Assist

Used with LaneSense Lane Departure Warning, this tool monitors your vehicle’s position in relation to the lane boundaries. When it senses you drifting out of your lane, it will first alert you, followed by corrective steering to move your vehicle back into the middle of your lane.

Pedestrian Emergency Braking

Safety applies not only to you when you’re behind the wheel but also to the various pedestrians and other drivers with whom we share the road. By detecting the presence of a pedestrian, an automated warning is sounded, and additional braking is applied.

A silver 2025 Ram 1500 is driving on a city highway after leaving a Ram dealer near Somerset.

We like a hard-working truck as much as the next guy—honestly, probably more than the next guy—which is why we get excited about Ram trucks year after year. For the 2025 model year, the Ram 1500 that you’ll find at Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris, your premier Ram dealer near Somerset, is better than ever, with comprehensive updates and enhancements inside and out. Not only has Ram improved the styling of their top truck for this new model year, along with major tech upgrades inside, but the 2025 model also debuts the new Hurricane engine for the Ram 1500, and we couldn’t be more excited. Ram trucks have always been known for their incredible power and capability, often in connection with their legendary HEMI V8 engines, now they’re better than ever.

Perhaps most remarkable, however, is that these upgrades push the Ram 1500 to the next level and can surpass the Ford F-150 in numerous ways. Yeah, we know that it’s not always necessary to compare yourself to someone else, but the F-150 has been such a popular truck for so long that it’s hard not to. Plus, with these updates to the Ram 1500—like the powerful new engine and incredible tech features inside—it’s clear that Ram is looking to take the top spot. When you see how it stacks up next to Ford’s pickup, it’s pretty clear that Ram is ready to take over and become America’s favorite truck.

It’s Hurricane Season for the Truck Market

Ram has been a leader in the industry for decades with its powerful engines, which ensure their trucks feel great to drive around Somerset and have plenty of power to tackle what you need. In recent years, their engineers have developed different ways to deliver more power and enhanced performance. We’ve seen this most recently with the eTorque mild hybrid system they’ve developed to boost power by using an electric motor to take some of the strain off the engine so it can focus on performance.

Now, with the 2025 model year for the Ram 1500, we’re seeing the next step in this evolution of power and performance. For some people, it’s going to be hard to say goodbye to the incredible HEMI V8 engines we’ve known and loved for so long, but it’s time for something new and different. That’s where the innovative new 3.0L Hurricane engine comes into play, delivering an incredible driving experience that you need to feel to fully appreciate. The standard engine remains a 3.6L V6 with the eTorque system that offers an impressive 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, but the new Hurricane engine provides 420 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque—that’s from a 3.0L engine! There’s even a high-output version available with truly insane performance, but we’ll look at that more in a bit with the Ram 1500 RHO model.

By comparison, the Ford F-150 has a whole bunch of engines that can make choosing the right one feel like you’re doing your taxes as you try to keep track of different numbers and specs. There’s a standard 2.7L V6 that’s decent, but upgrades include a 5.0L V8, a 3.5L V6, a high-output version of that V6, then a hybrid version, and…well, you can see what we mean. Honestly, it’s just too many options. Ram keeps things much simpler with a streamlined selection that still offers incredible power and a great driving experience.

Good Looks and Functionality for Somerset Driving

Ram trucks have always looked fantastic, but year after year their designers and artists manage to make them even more stylish and bold looking. Although not fully redesigned for a new generation, the 2025 Ram 1500 clearly has a new style that is absolutely stunning, making an immediate impression from the moment you first look at it. This includes a redesigned full front fascia that is quite striking, along with trim-specific grille surrounds that make each model pop when seen together.

One of our favorite things about this update is the new lighting package they’ve put together for the Ram 1500. This includes available LED walk-up animations with a Ram logo and an exterior “lighting carpet” that illuminates the ground as you approach your truck. An available powered tailgate can be opened and closed with the push of a button on the key fob, and there’s a class-exclusive RamBox Cargo Management System available. This gives you secured exterior storage above the rear wheel well that is lit and has a 115-volt AC outlet on the driver-side box; you won’t find this on the Ford F-150.

Interior Comfort and Tech Features Taken to a New Level

Speaking of the F-150, there’s no denying that it’s a comfortable and technologically advanced truck—it has a 12-inch infotainment display these days and plenty of other impressive features. Looking at its pinnacle Platinum trim, Ford has loaded it full of features like a 12-inch Digital Productivity Screen, an available B&O sound system, and leather seating. That’s pretty impressive until you check out the all-new Tungsten model for the 2025 Ram 1500, which sets a new standard for luxury and innovation in full-size trucks.

Not only does the Tungsten have massive 22-inch wheels, but inside you’ll find premium leather seating, real wood and carbon fiber accents, and 24-way power adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functionality. The 2025 Ram 1500 also has an available 14.5-inch Uconnect infotainment display, an available class-exclusive 10.25-inch front-passenger touchscreen display, and 12-inch Driver Information Digital Cluster Display. Plus you can top it off with a best-in-class 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system with a 12-inch subwoofer for unbelievable sound quality.

The Ram 1500 RHO Can Go Anywhere You Imagine

The new Ram 1500 isn’t just about exquisite luxury and remarkable technology; it can also handle anything you throw at it. Building on the legacy of powerful models like the Ram TRX, the all-new Ram 1500 RHO is the latest addition to Ram’s incredible selection of off-road trucks over the years. Not only does this model have incredible interior features like 50 inches of combined available screens inside and dual wireless charging pads, but it’s also built to tackle anything you encounter once you leave Somerset behind and head off-road.

This RHO model comes with a 3.0L Hurricane High Output Straight-Six Turbo engine that delivers 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque, making it the most high-performance option for the new Ram 1500. This incredible engine lets it go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, get up to 100 mph in 11.7 seconds, and run the quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds. With a unique long-travel suspension featuring high-strength forged control arms, this truck is an amazing off-road beast that starts at $69,995 MSRP.[a] That’s almost $10k less than the starting price for the current F-150 Raptor, which is Ford’s off-road monster.

Are You Ready for the New Ram 1500?

For more than 40 years, the Ram 1500 has been one of our favorite trucks on the road and repeatedly set new standards for power, technology, and surprising luxury from a full-size truck. With these updates for the 2025 model year, Ram is once again taking things to the next level and delivering a truck that is perfect for driving around Somerset, getting work done throughout the week, and enjoying yourself on the weekend. Ram continues to prove that the best can somehow keep getting better, and we love seeing the new things they do year after year. While there’s no denying that the Ford F-150 is a fine truck, it’s clear that Ram is ready to push things further and elevate the experience you have in your pickup; we expect nothing less.

A grey 2024 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is shown off-road after leaving a Jeep dealer near Louisville.

One of the great things about living in Kentucky is that our state has an amazing blend of urban, suburban, and rural areas. This is especially true of Louisville, where you can enjoy big city charms like an active nightlife and sports scene, with nearby neighborhoods that are ideal for raising a family. Louisville even boasts some amazing rural trails for off-road enthusiasts that are a short drive away, as well as access to Cincinnati via the Big Four Bridge. This is why a Jeep can be the perfect vehicle for drivers who live and work in Louisville and its surrounding towns.

A Jeep gives you so much capability and enjoyment, especially if you choose either a Gladiator or a Wrangler. However, you need to figure out which one is right for you. This is why you need to find a Jeep dealer near Louisville who can walk you through the benefits of each model and allow you to make an informed decision. At Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris, we offer an expansive inventory of new and used Jeep models, including the Gladiator and the Wrangler. Our friendly sales team looks forward to answering all of your questions and going over all your options with these two amazing vehicles.

What Are the Similarities and Differences Between the Two Models?

If you look at the Gladiator and the Wrangler from the front, you may have a hard time telling them apart. Both have a similar front fascia that demonstrates the classic Jeep style. Just below the hood are a pair of round headlights that harken back to the original Jeep design. The same goes with the grille, featuring a seven-slat vertical air intake. The front bumper has a very rugged and powerful look, especially if you choose a trim with recovery hooks.

Beyond this outward appearance, there are a number of other similarities. Both models come with standard four-wheel drive. This will give you exceptional traction both on and off the road. Four-wheel drive delivers differing amounts of traction using a transfer case. The 2024 Gladiator and Wrangler feature a Uconnect 5 system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. This allows you to connect your smartphones using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make hands-free calls and texts while streaming your favorite music. Both models also have removable doors and roof panels so you can bring the great Kentucky outdoors inside your Jeep on a sunny day.

Still, there are a number of key differences between the two models. Where the 2024 Gladiator has one standard engine for all trims, the Wrangler has four engines to choose from. The standard engine on the Gladiator is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. This is also the base engine on several Wrangler trims. Regardless of which model you choose, this engine will deliver up to 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Drivers who choose a Wrangler can also get the 3.6-liter standard, as well as a 2.0-liter Turbocharged I-4 gas engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This provides up to 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Jeep has combined this engine with a pair of electric motors powered by a 17 kWh battery pack on the Wrangler 4xe, a hybrid version that gives you 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Finally, for those with a need for speed, you can get a 2024 Wrangler with a powerful 6.4-liter HEMI 392 V8 gas engine. Nicknamed the “Apache,” this also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering an incredible 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

The other key difference comes down to design. The Gladiator is a midsize pickup truck with a standard payload and a crew cab that seats up to five passengers. The Wrangler offers a choice of design; the 2024 Wrangler has two doors and seats up to four passengers, while the Wrangler Unlimited has four doors and can seat up to five passengers.

For the Louisville Commuter

If you live in one of Louisville’s suburbs and need to commute to the city or need to commute from Louisville to another nearby city like Cincinnati or Lexington, then you are going to want to get the best fuel economy possible. In this case, you might consider a two-door Wrangler model. Since you will most likely be driving alone, rear-row passenger space is less of a concern than getting the most gas mileage possible.

Choosing a Wrangler 4xe will give you an average of 20 MPG combined with its hybrid powertrain, including a very impressive 49 MPGe rating. The Wrangler with a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 will give you 21 MPG in combined fuel economy. This is much better than the Gladiator, which has a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that averages 19 MPG in combined fuel economy with automatic transmission. In other words, a commuter who drives a two-door 2024 Jeep Wrangler with either of the I-4 engines will get to enjoy great efficiency.

Looking for Adventure Off the Pavement?

Louisville boasts some great trails for off-road enthusiasts. You can take on rough terrain, which makes all of those special features like skid plates and recovery hooks come in handy. The good news is that no matter which model you choose, your Wrangler or Gladiator comes with features like a trail-rated 4×4 drivetrain that will allow you to enjoy many trails.

For folks who want to take things to the limit, Jeep offers the 2024 Gladiator and Wrangler with Trail Rated models. These have a special badge displaying that they have been tested on some of the toughest trails around the country and are equipped with many special features designed to help you take on the challenge of off-roading. In this case, it all comes down to personal taste. Some want a two-door Wrangler, while others prefer the four-door Wrangler or the Gladiator. Similarly, some Jeep drivers like one with a hard top, and others like soft tops. The good news is that if you are looking for adventure, you can find it in either of these great Jeep models.

Striking a Balance Between Work and Play

Some drivers in Louisville are looking for utility. These are the ones who want to be able to tow trailers and carry heavy loads. However, they don’t just want a model for work. They also want something that is fun to drive on the weekends. For these drivers, it may make more sense to choose a Gladiator. The Jeep Gladiator comes with a standard 5-foot payload bed that can fit up to 35.5 cu.ft. of cargo, with a maximum weight capacity of 1,725 lbs, more than the Wrangler.

While the Gladiator offers a sensible balance of towing and versatility, those who regularly haul cargo may want to explore the options available in the Wrangler lineup. The basic two-door model will offer you 12.9 cu.ft. of space behind the rear seating and open up to 31.7 cu.ft. when those seats are lowered. Drivers looking for ample space with their fuel efficiency may want to check out the Wrangler 4xe’s maximum volume of up to 67.4 cu.ft. with the back row down. Finally, for the ultimate cargo volume, we suggest the four-door version of the regular Wrangler model, giving you 31.7 cu.ft. behind the rear and an impressive 72.4 cu.ft. behind the front row.

You may also want to consider towing power, which the Gladiator excels at. If you choose this model, you can tow up to 7,700 lbs. This is significantly more than the 5,000 lbs of towing capacity on the Wrangler. As a result, you can use a Gladiator to tow a tractor for work and then tow a camper or boat for some weekend fun.

For Those With Families

For many family drivers, interior space is the biggest concern. While the Gladiator, Wrangler, and Wrangler Unlimited offer comparable amounts of passenger space, ranging from 103 to 104 cu.ft., the Gladiator and Wrangler Unlimited are more convenient for family driver usage. Each has four doors with seating for up to five passengers. The two-door Wrangler can only seat four.

In addition, both the Gladiator and Wrangler Unlimited have 38.3 inches of legroom in the back, more than the 35.7 inches of rear row legroom on the Wrangler. The only difference between the passenger compartments on the Wrangler Unlimited and the Gladiator is that the Wrangler Unlimited has slightly more hip room in back, while the Gladiator gives your passengers more headroom.

In the End, Both Models Offer a Lot to a Wide Variety of Drivers

No matter what type of versatile vehicle you’re looking for to travel throughout Louisville and beyond, you’ll find it in the Jeep lineup, and the Wrangler and Gladiator are exceptional examples of this. Whether you’re looking for ample cargo space or off-road capabilities to explore the Great Outdoors, you’ll find it in both of these standout Jeep models.

Now that we’ve given you a more in-depth look at their differences and similarities, which one do you see yourself in? If you’re still having trouble narrowing down the best option, we invite you to visit us here at Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris and let our friendly and knowledgeable team walk you through our extensive selection. We’re confident we’ll help you find the perfect model to enhance your drive throughout Derby City.

For now, let’s dive in and explore these two outstanding Ram trucks and which one might appeal to you.

The Ram 1500 vs the Ram 2500

The Ram 1500 may have been the first truck you would have thought of, especially since the 2500 and 3500 come into play when you need extreme power and performance. In fact, the only true difference between these two trucks is the capabilities and engine options. Otherwise, their features for both technology and safety are relatively the same. When you’re looking at the Ram 1500, you’ll notice the multiple engine options like the 3.6L Pentastar V6, 5.7L HEMI “Eagle” V8, and 6.2L HEMI “Hellcat” supercharged V8.

The standard 3.6L engine produces 305 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, getting 20 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. It is a well-performing engine capable of towing up to 7,730 lbs. By upgrading trim levels and getting the available “Eagle” engine, you’ll receive an impressive 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. While this does lower the fuel economy to 18 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway, you will get more towing capacity at a max of 12,750 lbs.

The final engine, the “Hellcat,” gets up to an astounding 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque for a riveting ride around Somerset. However, in the wake of all that exciting power, you would be sacrificing fuel economy with 10 MPG in the city and 14 MPG on the highway, as well as some strength, which only allows for a max of 8,220 lbs towing capacity. While that is still greater than what the standard engine offers, it is only truly lacking in fuel efficiency. This 1500 model is available in both RWD and 4WD drivetrains and can get you where you need to go, whether that is around the corner to buy groceries or a night out on the town for some well-deserved food and drinks.

The Ram 2500 is not shy about taking the spotlight from its brother, the Ram 1500. In fact, it is quite fond of showing off its brilliant design and power no matter where it is driven. However, compared to the Ram 1500, the Ram 2500 offers only two engine options: a 6.4L HEMI “Apache” V8 and a 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel I-6. They will definitely be the powerhouse of the town and would be useful for small businesses, those who need to transport heavy items, or for those who are working for themselves and need a sturdy truck to carry them to the top.

A standard engine on the Ram 2500 provides much more power than that of the Ram 1500 truck. In fact, the 6.4L HEMI “Apache” V8 receives a roaring 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. There is enough muscle to show off with a towing capacity of 17,730 lbs for heavy-duty hauling jobs. With a combined rating of 15 MPG, 12 MPG in the city, and 18 MPG on the highway, the Ram 2500 can get a pass with as much power as it provides on its standard model.

Of course, there is more in store. You didn’t really think the Ram 2500 would stop there, did you? The powerhouse engine, the 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel I-6, gives drivers 370 hp and a grand 850 lb-ft of torque to keep your truck stable and generate great speed for the ride. Not to mention, it can produce great towing strength at a max of 19,990 lbs. Similar to the Ram 1500, the available drivetrains are RWD and 4WD.

Technology and Safety

In terms of technology and safety, the Ram 1500 and 2500 could be twins rather than mere brothers looking for their place on the market. They are both equipped with a standard 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen display for unlimited entertainment, information, and connection that keeps you in the know as you go. There is also the ability to upgrade to a 12-inch version, depending on the trim level you choose. Along with their functional driver’s infotainment screens that keep them plenty informed of their speed, safety alerts, and more, the Ram 1500 and 2500 are set with cameras and viewing angles.

Know what’s going on around you with the Surround View Camera and Trailer Hitch View for the perfect hook-up every time. Now, these Ram trucks can be with you everywhere, as they provide tech features right on your phone via the Ram app. Check the fuel levels, mileage, and other important reports, all with the touch of a button. They are also full of safety features to keep you protected, like a Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Front and Rear Park Assist, etc. Of course, there are more options on higher trim options like available advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, and an Intersection Collision System.

Truck Bed Sizes and Cargo Space

The Ram 1500 is versatile, reliable, and durable, but what about its most important attribute? The truck bed offers two different sizes and cargo hold space. Its standard bed is 5.6 ft. and has a 53.9 cu.ft. cargo hold. That is enough room for wood planks, tools, small to midsize objects, etc. However, if you’re looking for more room, then there is a 6.4. ft. truck bed that provides 61.5 cu.ft. of space. There is enough room to store mostly anything you can imagine. Besides towing, the truck bed is the best thing for transporting items and heavy objects.

The Ram 2500 is advanced, strong, and ready to hit the streets with exceptional power and performance. However, this truck also has truck bed options that are what makes a truck… well, a truck. The standard truck bed on the Ram 2500 is the highest option on the Ram 1500, the 6.4 ft. bed offering 57.5 cu.ft. of space. While it slightly lacks space compared to the 1500 option, it is still higher than the Ram 1500 standard and provides enough space for various-sized objects. Going up a few trim levels, you’ll have the available 8.2 ft. bed with 74.7 cu.ft. of cargo hold room.

Hard workers of every type, we have great news: the Ram 2500 is back and is more impressive than ever. This heavy-duty pickup has been the loyal companion of contractors, farmers, construction workers, and the like for many years. Ram has cleverly offered this truck in seven trims for the 2024 year, each one offering its own unique features, appealing to a very distinct driver. Below, we will go over some of the standard features of the full Ram 2500 lineup, and then dive into the highlights of each of the seven trims. If you’re looking for a Ram 2500 for sale near Somerset, make your next stop Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris and check out our great selection of this heavy-duty Ram favorite.

The Basics

Let’s start with some basics you’ll find across these trims. There are two engine options. The starting engine is a 6.4 L HEMI V8, kicking out 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Vehicles equipped with this engine can tow up to 17,730 pounds and have a payload of 4,000 lbs. Some upper trims, however, have the 6.7 L Cummins turbo-diesel engine standard or available. The super hefty engine takes the torque up to 850 lb-ft, and some vehicles equipped with this can tow up to 19,990 pounds.

There are three cab options and two box options. Availability varies between trims. The regular cab gets you just one front bench seat, offering seating for three passengers. The crew cab can be had with either bucket seats or a bench seat in the front, offering seating for five or six. The same goes for the mega cab, but the mega cab will be more spacious than the crew cab. As for box sizes, there is an 8-foot and a 6.4-foot box option.

The Tradesman

The Tradesman tells you what it is right there in its name. It is a basic, but sturdy workhorse of a truck. It doesn’t have many bells and whistles, but it will help you get your jobs done every day. Its work readiness is proven through its versatility. This is actually the only Ram 2500 trim available in a regular cab. It is also available in a crew cab and has the 8-ft and 6.4-ft box options. Furthermore, the Tradesman can be ordered in a 4×4 or 4×2 model. Between the various cab/configurations and drive options, the Tradesman is a highly customizable option. So, if you have different types of jobs calling for different tools, you can create the ideal cab/box configuration for your needs.

A white 2024 Ram 2500 Big Horn is shown from the front at an angle.

The Big Horn

If you want to make a splash wherever you go and your jobs take you to high-end places, you’ll like pulling up in the stylish Big Horn. It has chrome front and rear bumpers and a chrome grille surrounding it with a black insert. The 18-inch polished cast aluminum wheels add to the unique style. Remote keyless entry offers a luxurious and streamlined process of getting into your truck. The Bighorn is only available in a 4×4 option and only in the crew cab variety; however, you can order it with the 8-ft or 6.4-ft box. It’s a great option for contractors and business owners who often need to meet with clients away from the job site and want a slick-looking vehicle that’s equally rugged.

The Laramie

If you’re looking for comfort and a little more luxury, consider the Laramie. It is also a highly customizable option with 4×4 and 4×2 options. Plus, it is available in a crew or mega cab, so it is a passenger-focused model. However, both the 8-foot and 6.4-foot box options are available, so if you need to prioritize passengers and cargo, the trim will easily accommodate.

The comfort we spoke of comes in the form of leather-trimmed seats with suede inserts. You’ll also get a heated, power-adjustable front seat for the driver and front passenger, helping you and your co-pilot ease into the perfect positions for long drives and keep you warm on cold days. Lifting heavy loads gets a little bit easier with a tailgate with a remote release. ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assists will come in handy when traveling in the city and getting into difficult parking spots. If you do a decent amount of commuting, you’ll be happy behind the wheel of the Laramie.

The Rebel

Off-road enthusiasts, the Rebel is for you. It is only available in a 4×4 configuration speaking to its adventurous nature. It’s made for muddy trails and unpredictable environments. Accordingly, it is only available with a 6.4 box. The Rebel’s box is just right for transporting some dirt bikes or adventure gear to your outdoor destinations. So, if you’re looking for the perfect truck for days spent on the trails, this is the model.

This model is available with a serious winch for times someone needs to pull you out of a jam. Adding to its off-road readiness is a rear limited slip differential with E-Locker, which allows you to send more torque to whichever wheel has good traction and enables you to lock both rear wheels so they turn at the same time, reducing the risk of spinning out.

The Power Wagon

Another great adventurous vehicle that is not quite as off-road-ready as the Rebel is the Power Wagon. The Power Wagon is also only available in 4×4 models. It has an electronic disconnecting sway bar, offering more flexibility on bumpy roads, and better bump absorption. It also has powder-coated front and rear bumpers to combat small scratches and damage when you leave paved environments. The addition of Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires makes this model ready to explore muddy trails.

A white 2024 Ram 2500 HD Limited Longhorn is shown from the front at an angle while towing a boat.

The Limited Longhorn

This model boasts a striking Southwestern style with genuine leather seating and real Barnwood accents. You also get some great tech features in the limited Longhorn. These include the Uconnect 5 NAV system, Ram’s most up-to-date infotainment and navigation system, with an 8.4-inch touchscreen or an available massive 12-inch touchscreen. You can set up to five user profiles on this system and customize the home screen. Plus, it has dual phone connectivity, so you can connect your phone to take incoming calls, and your co-pilot can connect their phone to be a DJ or navigator. The limited Longhorn is only available in 4×4 models. It comes in the crew \and mega cab options and has only the 6.4-ft box option.

The Limited

The Limited is the top trim of the Ram 2500. This luxurious trim also gets the Uconnect 5 NAV, as well as a 12-inch Driver Information Digital Cluster Display, giving you pertinent vehicle and journey stats. More on the tech front, there is an available 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, perfect for blasting your tunes while you drive around and run errands. Step inside and find 100% leather seating with real wood and aluminum accents. The resulting aesthetic is a combination of rustic and industrial. If you spend an extended period in your vehicle and want to love your truck cabin, consider the stunning Limited.

A red 2025 Ram 1500 for sale near Bardstown with a bed cover seen from a high angle.

Driving a Ram 1500 is something special, considering the level of design, innovation, and performance you get to enjoy each time you take your place behind the wheel. If you’re searching for a Ram 1500 for sale near Bardstown, look no further than Dan Cummins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paris, where we offer an outstanding inventory of these phenomenal trucks.

Known for its stylish persona and impressive capabilities, the Ram 1500 is trusted enough to take on daunting tasks on the construction site, navigate rough terrain, and handle the daily commute on Route 62 with finesse, making this truck a Bardstown favorite. If you’re looking to customize a Ram truck, you may be interested in your bed liner and cover options, so let’s explore how you can make your Ram 1500’s bed more in-tune with your needs.

The Benefits of Bed Liners

If you’re driving a Ram 1500, chances are it’s not just the occasional set of plants from Home Depot that you’re hauling in your bed. No, chances are you’re taking on some serious loads, which can cause damage to your truck’s bed. Whether you’re loading up with camping gear to head to My Old Kentucky Home Campground for the weekend, or you’re hauling heavy materials across the Lichtefeld construction site, your bed plays a vital role in these tasks. Over time, cargo can end up wearing down the coating of your bed, causing rust and other damage, compromising its integrity. You want to ensure that your bed is protected against the elements, which is where bed liners come in to save the day.

Helping to protect your bed from dings, dents, and other damage, a bed liner is an outstanding addition to a hard-working truck. This protective liner helps to ease the blow caused by hauling serious cargo, which in turn helps to preserve the value of your truck and alleviate any costly repairs to scratches and other damage caused to your bed. The great thing about bed liners is that you have so many options, varying in price, to help you maintain your truck’s value and continue to haul anything you need during the workday and beyond. If you want to protect a very important component of your Ram 1500, especially when you use its bed quite frequently, you’ll want to consider installing a bed liner.

Types of Bed Liners for Your Ram 1500

As you’re traveling around Bardstown, pay attention to the types of trucks passing you by and what kinds of bed liners you happen to notice. There are plenty to choose from, making it easy to find the option that suits your needs while also fitting into your budget. Here are some of the most popular:

Spray-On Bed Liners

Many drivers choose spray-on bed liners because this way of protecting your bed is durable and it doesn’t shift around in transit like other liners tend to do. Typically made from polyurethane, these liners are sprayed directly onto your truck’s bed, acting as a permanent shield from the elements. When you buy a Ram 1500, you have the option to add this feature to your truck; however, if you decide to add this later, you’ll want to turn to the professionals to ensure that it’s installed correctly.

Drop-In Bed Liners

These one-piece durable shells are another great option when it comes to protecting your Ram 1500. Custom-fitted to your truck, these liners are essentially dropped into your bed, protecting the bottom and sides of your cargo area. The biggest advantage of these types of liners is the fact that you can remove them if needed, unlike spray-on liners which are permanent. It’s important to partner with a reputable dealer to ensure that this type of liner is fitted to your truck’s specifications so that no water, dirt, or debris finds itself in between the liner and the bed of your truck.

Rubber and Carpet Liners

Cheaper alternatives include rubberized mats and carpet mats that are quickly placed down on your bed to offer a layer of protection. These affordable options are great for those who need a quick and simple solution to protect their bed and don’t want to spend a lot of money. You may want to choose a carpet mat if you’re frequently hauling fragile items so that they don’t get damaged in transit.

The Benefits of Bed Covers

There are plenty of reasons to install a bed cover on your Ram 1500 as you’re cruising through Nelson County and beyond. For one, truck bed covers help to secure your valuable items, like tools, materials, and goods for your clients. They allow you to utilize your bed for cargo, instead of the interior cabin of the truck, which helps you maintain organization and comfort on board. They’re also used to help protect your truck’s bed against the elements. If you want better protection than what a bed liner can provide, choosing a bed cover may be better for your needs. Another benefit is the fact that bed covers intensify the look of your Ram 1500, adding a unique style to it that helps it stand out in a crowd.

Types of Bed Covers for Your Ram 1500

Whether you’re loading up and hitting the highway on a road trip or heading to the jobsite, there are plenty of ways to cover your truck’s bed. With various options, ranging in size and cost, finding the ideal bed cover is easy. Plus, with the Ram 1500’s sleek and stylish appearance, adding a bed cover will just elevate its striking persona.

Tonneau Covers

Tonneau covers are great for when you don’t want your bed cover to take up too much space and add too much height to your truck. You may want to continue to enjoy the pickup truck profile while also taking advantage of the benefits of a bed cover. Tonneau covers are flat covers that fit over your bed and come in a multitude of configurations, including:

  • Hard folding
  • Soft folding
  • Hard rolling
  • Soft rolling
  • Retractable

Bed Caps

Choosing a bed cap completely changes the look of your truck; however, it enhances its space the best. This is perfect for those who need to transport power tools, larger materials, and other cargo, protecting it perfectly in an enclosed space. Often called camper shells, these caps are ideal for those looking to head out to Little Patch of Heaven for some time in nature with all of their gear securely stowed within. They’re also great for those who need to deliver goods to clients throughout Bardstown, securing them and offering a safe space out of the elements.

#1. Rubber Floor Mats

While the weather in the Bluegrass State is often dry, occasionally you will get some rain and that means lots of shuffling dirt and mud everywhere. While you may not think much of it, getting into and out of the vehicle during the rainy seasons can result in the truck’s floors becoming muddy from all of the foot traffic. So what do you do to rectify that problem?

Well, you could just clean out the vehicle every time someone gets in and gets out with filthy boots or shoes, or you can take advantage of the MoPar rubber floor mats available as optional accessories for the front and rear of the cabin. For the trims where they don’t come standard, you can have these added to your truck that help protect the floors from stains, dirt, mildew, rain, spillage, and more. They’re a great accessory to have for those of you who use your Ram 1500 for a lot of rugged outdoor activities.

#2. 115-Volt Auxiliary Power-Outlet

If you do plenty of remote bookkeeping, maintaining work logs, or need to document deliveries or workloads as part of your job, then having access to an electronic device on hand with logistical utility is extremely important. While you can use a smartphone for the task, most people who spend life on the road and need to log important data do so using a laptop.

As we all know, laptop batteries aren’t the most reliable, and they typically drain pretty quickly. This is where the 115-volt auxiliary power-outlet option comes in handy big time for the 2024 Ram 1500, because it’s an available option for all of the trims. If you needed to keep your laptop, tablets, or other small electronic devices powered, the 115-volt power-outlet is an excellent way to do so, and it’s perfect for those times when your home office is basically the cabin of your truck and you need to log important data in between long trips that take you through route 62 or interstate 245.

#3. Trailer Brake Controller

One option available for most of the trims is the trailer brake controller. For anyone who does trailering, this is an essential option to include. It integrates the ability to operate the brakes on your hitched trailer, all from the comfort of the Ram 1500’s cabin. You can electronically use the button access without any additional hardware.

This is a convenient way to tow a trailer and keep the trailer working properly in sync with the truck, so that you’re not dealing with a runaway trailer or having to force the truck to work harder to slow down the trailer. An integrated trailer brake controller is practically essential for those who plan on trailering large loads with the Ram.

A black 2024 Ram 1500 towing a boat after visiting a dealer with a Ram 1500 for sale near Bardstown.

#4. Trailer Tow Group

While the trailer brake controller is a great optional utility, the Trailer Tow Group package comes with a series of features designed around truckers who engage in both recreational and serious commercial towing. The package automatically comes with the Trailer Brake Controller, as well as Trailer Light Check, Trailer Reverse Steering Control, and a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring system. Depending on the trim also depends on what’s available in this package, as higher-end trims also include power-fold trailer tow mirrors, exterior mirrors with heating and memory settings, and mirror-mounted auxiliary reverse lamps.

You might be wondering why anyone would opt for a trailer brake controller add-on if they could just get the Trailer Tow Group package? Well, it all boils down to pricing. While you get more with the Trailer Tow Group, it also costs significantly more than the trailer brake controller add-on. So depending on what you’re doing and what kind of trailering you’re planning on doing with the Ram 1500 will determine where the optional add-on or the whole package will be essential for your trucking needs.

#5. HEMI Max Tow Package

The HEMI Max Tow Package is basically a tow package designated for the Ram 1500 trims that are configured with the HEMI V8 powertrain. The HEMI Max Tow Package comes with a 256 mm rear axle configured in a 3.92 rear differential ratio. This gives you a lot more torque off the line on the rear axle, which is perfect for towing and trailering heavy loads. You get a Class IV receiver-hitch, a full-size spare tire, a trailer brake controller, and the inclusion of 32-inch road tires. If you want the power of a V8 but the added towing efficiency provided by the Ram 1500, this is a great package for Bardstown truckers to have installed, as it provides plenty of utility for the light-duty pickup.

#6. Advanced Safety Group

For the Laramie and above trims, there is the option to have the Advanced Safety Group package added to the offerings, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go functionality, Auto High-Beam Headlamp Control, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning Plus, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, and a 360 Surround View Camera. These are great features for when you have to commute into larger cities outside of Bardstown, like Lexington or Louisville, and you want those extra safety features for when you find yourself in bumper-to-bumper traffic in the big cities. Limiting or mitigating potential collisions is always a worthwhile investment, and that’s what makes this particular package well worth the consideration.

#7. Comfort and Convenience Group

If you want the rugged sensibilities and off-road capabilities provided by the 2024 Ram 1500 Rebel, then one package that you might seriously want to consider is the Comfort and Convenience Group package. This package is designed around adding exactly what the name infers: comfort and convenience. It balances out the rugged off-road appeal and utilitarian nature of the Ram 1500 Rebel with 10-way power front cabin seats, driver-seat memory settings, two-way power adjustable lumbar support, heated second row seats, and exterior adjustable mirrors with heated options. This is all in addition to features like wireless charging, which is super useful if you don’t want to deal with fumbling around with cords while your phone’s battery is low and you’re tearing up the dirt mounds at an off-road park.

#8. Multifunction Tailgate

Given the prominence of trucking-related jobs throughout Bardstown, having a reliable truck that can haul and move a lot of cargo to and from various destinations is absolutely essential in a full-size, light-duty pickup like the Ram 1500. Making those tasks easier from a loading/unloading perspective is the highly popular Multifunction Tailgate. This is an optional utility add-on you can pair up with select trims to give the truck the added ability to open the tailgate sideways to reach inside, load items, or retrieve items without having to completely let down the entire tailgate. This gives better access into the cargo box and adds additional logistical approaches to how you load items into the back of the truck.
