They're going to release an EV that looks and sounds like their famous Charger muscle car. Dodge plans to release the vehicle, currently called the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, in 2024. This vehicle will come after Dodge ends its production of the V-8-powered Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger at the end of 2023, which marks the end of Dodge producing full-sized gas-powered vehicles. As of now, the new Dodge Charger looks just like you'd expect a Charger to look. It's got the old-school muscle car shape while also looking aerodynamic. Dodge revived the old triangular logo from the 1970s to go along with this new breed of EV. One of Dodge's biggest points of emphasis is to have the Charger Daytona SRT sound like a classic muscle car, as this is often one of the favorite features of muscle car owners. Unlike most EVs, which are incredibly quiet, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT will use a combination of organ music and a system they're calling "Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust" to produce a sound that can reach 126 decibels. Finally, the last element Dodge focused on was the driving experience. While most modern EVs can perform just as well, if not better, than some muscle cars, they don't always have the same driving experience. Dodge aims to fix that by offering drivers of their new EV a transmission experience despite lacking a traditional gearbox. Essentially, this will allow drivers to use mechanical shifting like in a standard muscle car, something that's new for EVs. Dodge is still working out the final details of its EV. However, if it ends up being close to the concepts released so far, it should appease many muscle car enthusiasts looking to make the change to an EV but don't want to leave the muscle car experience behind. Benefits of an EV In addition to having the feel of a muscle car, the new Dodge EV will come with all the other advantages of getting an EV. Some of these advantages include the following: Gas Savings One of the primary reasons people choose to get an EV is to save money on gas. With a full EV, you don't need to stop for gas every couple of days. Instead, you charge the battery in your vehicle either at home or at a public charging station. The cost of this electricity is typically much lower than that of gas, allowing the owners to save some money. Latest Technology Another great benefit of EVs is that they come with the latest technology. Since all EVs are relatively new, the technology inside them is also pretty new. The downside of a Level 1 charger is that it takes longer to charge your vehicle. If you plan to drive your vehicle often, a Level 1 charger may not provide power fast enough for you. The other option is a Level 2 charger. These charge EVs much faster, with most able to provide a full charge overnight. However, to install a Level 2 charger, you often need to wire it directly into your home's electrical system. Level 2 chargers also have a larger energy requirement, and you'll need to make sure that your home can handle the increased electricity demand. It may require a little extra time and work, but once you complete it, you'll be set up for an EV for years to come. View New Jeep Wrangler 4xe The Mysterious New Jeep EV Jeep Wrangler 4XE Jeep recently announced a new Jeep EV, but the details are mysterious. In fact, we don't even know the name of the new electric SUV, but it will be released sometime in 2023. This will be the first Jeep to use a battery as its main power source, though Jeep has been working to make all versions of its vehicles emissions-free by 2025. Jeep has released pictures of the new EV, and some people have pointed out that the new Jeep looks a lot like the Jeep Compass. The key differences include a faux grille and durable cladding. While some Jeep fans have anticipated that Jeep would first work on turning the Grand Cherokee or Wrangler into an EV first, this doesn't appear to be the case. Some outlets have speculated that the Jeep EV will have a range of about 250 miles. It may be a rear-drive vehicle with an all-wheel-drive option. No word is available yet on how much the new EV will cost, but it's likely to come with multiple trim levels to choose from. If you've been hoping for a Jeep SUV, this one may be worth the wait. You can expect more details on this mystery vehicle in the coming months. Jeep Hybrid SUV Options Are Already Available Many car shoppers might not realize that Jeep already offers some efficient hybrid SUVs that use plug-in technology. You'll have two charging options if you buy one of these SUVs. The first is Level I charging with a 120-volt charging system that plugs right into your home's electrical outlet. You also have the opportunity to charge with a Level II TurboDX EV charger at 240 volts. It charges much faster, filling your battery in a matter of hours. Jeep has also announced its own branded solar-powered charging stations to be placed on popular trails so that eco-friendly explorers can charge their vehicles on the go. Locations for these charging stations include Utah's Moab as well as California's Rubicon Trail and Big Bear. The stations can charge all EVs, but Jeep owners will have access to free charging. Jeep Wrangler 4xe The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has a 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I4 engine packed with 375 horsepower. Plus, the battery is encased in a waterproof setting, so you can be sure that your adventures don’t jeopardize your Jeep's safety and efficiency. This Wrangler is touted as the first electrified open-air SUV. It still offers all the bells and whistles you expect from a Jeep, including tow hooks and all the power you need to explore the way you want to. The hybrid Wrangler offers a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and regenerative brake booster. Drivers will enjoy an eight-speed automatic transmission. You'll also be able to travel farther. The estimated MPGe is about 49 miles, while the fuel driving range is about 370 miles. You'll have the option to choose how you want to drive and whether you are using gas or electricity. On electric mode, your Jeep will have extremely low emissions. Additionally, there are three trim levels available for the Wrangler 4xe, including the Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe The Grand Cherokee 4xe is also a plug-in hybrid. The vehicle's two electric motors help you maintain just as much power as you need to tow up to 6,000 pounds. All the while, you'll be driving an eco-friendly car suited for adventure thanks to its Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system and a water-sealed battery pack. The new Grand Cherokee offers 375 horsepower and 56 MPGe. You can drive your Cherokee in hybrid mode, which uses regenerative braking, or electric mode, which uses only battery power. You can also use eSave mode, which saves the electricity for later and uses fuel to help you get where you're going. You'll have a driving range of about 470 miles combining gas and electric power. In addition to the base model, several other trims are available, including the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit Reserve, and Summit options. The Jeep Magneto Brings You a Fully Electric Wrangler Jeep has announced a fully electric Wrangler that will be released as the Magneto and Magneto 2.0 in 2024. If you're looking for a way to improve your efficiency beyond the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, the Magneto is a fun off-roading vehicle to try. The first completely electric Wrangler looks a lot like the traditional Wrangler, except that it comes with a manual transmission. One key fact to know about the first version of the Jeep Magneto is that it is not especially powerful, with 285 horsepower. On the other hand, the Magneto 2.0 upgrades the motor and brings 625 horsepower to the table. However, this level of power is not achieved without a lot of effort. You'll have four 800-volt battery packs in your vehicle. In just two seconds, you'll be able to take your SUV from zero to 60 mph. Jeep has announced not only its plan for a new all-electric SUV, but the manufacturer has also announced that it has plans for a complete EV lineup by the year 2025. When a Car Is About To Be Redesigned or Discontinued Vehicle models don't always change that much from one year to another. But sometimes, a new model year brings with it a total redesign of a given vehicle, from the exterior shape to the array of interior features. When this is happening for a car brand that you love, you can treat this just like you would the end of a regular model year. You can snap up the previous design for a significantly lower sticker price than the newest release. Also, sometimes entire model lines get discontinued, maybe to make room for something totally new or because that model wasn't very popular. Ram is preparing to modernize its range by releasing an electric truck in the near future. RAM EV Truck By ramtrucks.com Ram is planning to bring out a Ram 1500 EV for the 2024 model year. Stellantis, Ram's parent company, made the announcement as part of its aim to electrify a wide range of vehicles across its entire brand lineup from Jeep to Chrysler. The all-new EV truck is expected to give you an impressive driving range of 500 miles when fully charged. It will also have rapid zero to 60 mph acceleration and a strong towing capacity. Unlike other automakers who have tried to make their electric trucks or crossovers look similar to their gas-powered predecessors, Ram appears to be taking a more creative approach. The teaser images released for the Ram EV show a futuristic design concept. Alongside the full-sized Ram 1500 EV, the automaker has shown its determination to appeal to a broader customer base by creating an all-new mid-sized pickup as well. Not much is known about the plans for that yet, which suggests that it will follow the successful release of Ram's full-sized EV truck. What Will the Ram 1500 EV Be Like? Although we don't have the new Ram EV in our Kentucky showroom yet, we have a reasonably good idea about some of its key features. Stellantis previewed this new vehicle at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, which prompted a surge of interest for the latest addition to the EV market. The Ram 1500 EV's electric motor is likely to be positioned low enough to create space for a “frunk”, giving you more useful storage space at the front. Pictures indicate that there's room for three electric motors, although only two have been shown so far. In addition, a spare tire could be located beneath the rear bumper. If you want to influence how the Ram 1500 EV is built or the final feature lineup it will offer, Ram has launched a customer feedback program precisely to encourage your input. Ram Revolution gives you the opportunity to share your views about what you'd like to see in Ram's first-ever electric truck. The scheme may also continue after the vehicle's launch, letting the automaker gather your views to inform the adjustments it makes to the Ram 1500 EV over subsequent model years. What's it Like To Own an EV? Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, and there are multiple reasons for this. A key factor is that EV prices are becoming more affordable as a larger number of automakers enter this segment of the market. Also, there is a growing network of EV charging options across the country, which is helping to reduce some buyers’ concerns about the convenience of recharging their vehicle's battery. If you decide to purchase a Ram 1500 EV when it's released, one of the first things you'll need to familiarize yourself with is your charging options. EV owners typically have three types of charging available to them: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Level 1 charging is when you plug your vehicle into a standard 120-volt household power outlet. This option isn't really practical for most vehicle owners because it takes a long time to recharge the battery. An average-sized car or SUV can take up to 40 hours to fully charge using Level 1 charging. Level 2 charging is available at public charging stations, but you can also install this type of charger in your own home at your own cost. Level 2 charging is much faster, fully charging your vehicle's battery in approximately 10 hours. Your final charging option is Level 3, which is also sometimes called fast charging. These DC chargers are only available at public charging sites. They're typically more expensive than Level 2 chargers, but they can recharge your electric truck much more quickly. Depending on the vehicle you're driving, a Level 3 charger can fully restore your battery in one to two hours. Ram 1500 Top Features The gas-powered Ram 1500 has built up a loyal following in Kentucky over the years, and this is partly down to its great range of cargo and passenger options. The Ram's latest design gives you a choice of cargo bed lengths: a longer one of 6 feet 4 inches and a shorter one of 5 feet 7 inches. If you want the Ram 1500 as a work truck, you can opt for the Ram 1500 Classic. This is based on a model that was phased out in 2019 and gives you the option of an 8-foot-long bed for extra storage. The Ram 1500 also offers you two cab options. The smaller is called the Quad Cab, and it includes seating for up to five people. Adults can ride in both rows, although they’ll be most comfortable if you're only taking a short drive. If you regularly have adult passengers in the rear row and you plan on traveling longer distances, you'll probably prefer the Crew Cab. This larger cab offers almost 10 inches of additional legroom in the rear row.
